The world of the Shifting Isles was originally comprised of a single landmass amidst the ocean. After the Breaking of the World on the 5th of Sulinel in the year 2952, the land was separated into eight Isles, all of them in constant motion due to the shift cycle (a process similar to our plate tectonics).
